However, to keep a credit card active and enjoy its numerous benefits you need to ensure that you pay the bill on time. Luckily, paying the bill is easy and can be done online. There are several modes for the same. Let us take a look at them.
Online Modes of Credit Card Payment
You can pay your credit card bill online through any of the channels mentioned below by following the associated steps. Though the payment modes may vary depending on your issuing bank, these are the most common types of payment methods.
1) IMPS
- Go to your bank’s official website
- Complete the login process by entering the credentials
- Go to ‘Fund Transfer’ and select ‘IMPS’ as the payment mode
- Enter the credit card account number which would be your 16-digit credit card number
- Also, fill in the other details such as IFSC code, bank name, amount to be paid, etc
- Select the account to pay from
- Click confirm
2) NEFT
- Go to your bank’s official website
- Complete the login process by entering the credentials
- Go to ‘Fund Transfer’ and select ‘NEFT’ as the payment mode
- Enter the credit card account number which would be your 16-digit credit card number
- Also fill in the other details such as IFSC code, bank name, amount to be paid, etc
- Select the account to pay from
- Click confirm
3) RTGS
- Go to your bank’s official website
- Complete the login process by entering the credentials
- Go to ‘Fund Transfer’ and select ‘RTGS’ as the payment mode
- Enter the credit card account number which would be your 16-digit credit card number
- Also fill in the other details such as IFSC code, bank name, amount to be paid, etc
- Select the account to pay from
- Click confirm
4) Net Banking
- Go to your bank’s net banking page
- Complete the login process by entering the credentials
- Under banking, choose ‘Pay Credit Card Bill’
- Enter the amount to be paid
- Choose the account from which you want to deduct the funds
- Click on confirm
- Validate with OTP to complete the transaction
5) Mobile Banking
- Download the mobile app offered by your bank from either App Store or Google Play Store
- Register to the app and log in using your credentials
- Under the ‘Credit Cards’ tab select your credit card
- Enter the amount to be paid
- Choose the account from which you want to deduct the funds
- Click on confirm
- Validate with OTP to complete the transaction
6) Other Bank’s Account
- Go to the net banking portal for the other bank
- Add your credit card as your utility biller
- Login and initiate fund transfer
- Select your credit card and choose the account from which you want to pay
- Enter the amount and click on confirm
- Validate with OTP to complete the transaction
7) Auto Debit Facility
If you have a savings/ current account in the same bank from which you have your credit card, you can easily opt for the auto-debit facility. This allows you to set up standing instructions with the issuing bank to use the saved funds to automatically clear the total due or the minimum due on the credit card, as soon as the bill is generated.
8) NACH Mandate/ ECS
To initiate Auto-debit through NACH you need to get a signed mandate against your other bank account using ECS (Electronic Clearance Service). What this essentially does is it sets up an auto credit card bill payment facility. To avail this, you would need to first download the ECS mandate form, fill in all the requested details and then submit it at the credit card bank branch.
9) Bill Desk
- Go to the bill desk page of your credit card issuer
- Enter the credit card number and confirm
- Fill in the details requested for such as mobile number, e-mail id, etc
- Choose the account from which you want to pay and confirm
- Verify with OTP once redirected to the banking page of the selected account
10) UPI (Unified Payments Interface)
- Register yourself with Unified Payments Interface or UPI and link your bank account
- Select UPI and click on ‘Send Money’
- Enter the credit card bill amount and payment remarks
- Validate with MPIN to complete the payment
